Deviation Games Has Closed Its Doors Without Having The Chance To Ship A Game

Deviation Games has announced that the studio has shut its doors without having the chance to release its debut project.

Speaking on LinkedIn, Deviation Games’ chief Human Resources and operations officer, Kristie Stull, confirmed the closure of the company, which was established back in 2021 by Dave Anthony and Jason Blunder, previously of Call of Duty studio Treyarch.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Deviation Games. I want to express my deepest gratitude to our entire team. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and contributions to Deviation; I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have worked with each and every one of you.

To the entire video game industry, we will be hosting a networking event, and we would love for any/all companies/studios hiring to participate. Please reach out to me directly if you are interested in attending. To all the Deviators out there, we will always cherish the memories we made together. Thank you for being a part of our journey. Go get ’em!

Back in September 2022 it was confirmed that co-founder Jason Blundell hard departed Deviation Games, and the following year the studio had reportedly laid off nearly 100 employees. It was also claimed in May 2023 that the budget for its PS5-exclusive title was in the region of $50 million, although sadly it is unlikely now to see the light of day unless another studio picks it up.
