UPDATE 12/11/2024: Following the publication of this story, Sony took down its original trailer that featured the price drop, and replaced it with a trailer that does not include the price drop.
That new trailer has been embedded below, but it’s currently unclear if this new price was meant to be announced today, now that any mention of it has been removed from today’s trailer.
Original Story:
Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed in a new trailer that it is cutting the price of the standard digital edition PS5 to $379.99, which will be available until December 24, 2024. The news comes following the release of the PS5 Pro just last week, which is a high-end version of Sony’s flagship console that retailers for $699.99.

As mentioned this is the PS5 Digital Edition version of the console, so while the $70 price cut is welcome, you will have to purchase a vertical stand and PS5 Disc Drive separately if you want those items. The console would normally set you back $449.99. Sony announced during its latest financial results late last week that the PS5 has shipped 65.5 million units worldwide, with 3.8 million consoles moved during the three-month period ended September 30.
