Pete Hines, head of marketing at Bethesda, has revealed that sales of Dishonored are exceeding the company’s internal sales estimates – making a sequel all the more possible.
Hines told Destructoid that the game performed well despite tough competition, and is now considered a strong addition Bethesda’s ever-growing portfolio.
"We clearly have a new franchise,” he said. "I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter.”
“We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas.”
"So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise."
Dishonored was released in October 2012 and achieved rave reviews from critics, including PSU.com. The game’s first batch of DLC, Dunwall, is scheduled for release on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE on December 11.
