Id Software’s classic horror shooter Doom 3 will be hitting PlayStation 3 this fall in the shape of the BFG Edition, Bethesda has announced.
Doom 3 BFG Edition, also due out on PC and Xbox 360, offers a remastered version of the 2005 original, as well as expansions Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission, the latter of which adds seven new missions.
In addition to the above content, the BFG Edition features 3D support, 5.1 surround sound, enhanced rendering and lighting effects, plus an all-new checkpoint system. Furthermore, Trophy and Achievement support will be added to the PS3 and 360 version of the game, respectively.
Last but not least, Bethesda also confirmed the game will ship with the original Doom and its sequel.
Said id co-founder, John Carmack: “DOOM 3 was enthusiastically embraced by gamers worldwide at its release,”
“Today, the full experience has been enhanced and extended to be better than ever, and is delivered across all the platforms with a silky smooth frame rate and highly responsive controls.”
“New support for 3D TVs, monitors and head mounted displays also allows players to experience the game with more depth than ever before. We think shooter fans everywhere will love it," he added.
