DOOM: The Dark Ages Game Director Says Upcoming DLC Is ‘Huge’ And ‘Basically Like A Sequel’

Hugo Martin, game director on DOOM: The Dark Ages, has said during a new Slayers Club livestream that the upcoming DLC is going to be a pretty meaty offering, going so far to describe it as “basically like a sequel.”

It’s massive. It’s so big. Look, guys, I know that it’s been ultimately a while since we shipped the main game and you’re waiting for the DLC, but just know that it’s freaking huge. It’s basically like a sequel. I mean, that’s what it feels like, it’s just ginormous.

While playing the main game on stream, Martin added, “The DLC is nothing like this. What I’ve been playing [in the DLC], I haven’t been playing like this.” He added that the teaser trailer is “a little ways out there,” and added there would be a new spear weapon, which is possibly tied to a dash or teleport ability.

DOOM: The Dark Ages launched for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in May 2025, and within a week or so reached three million players, thus becoming the biggest launch to date for developer id Software.
