BioWare has confirmed that Dragon Age: Origins’ Morrigan won’t be able to join your party in the upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Speaking to GI, Dragon Age big cheese Mike Laidlaw and writer David Gaider assured games that while she won’t be a team member, the fan-favourite character still plays an important role in the upcoming fantasy RPG.
“It is fair for people to understand that [Morrigan] will not be a party member. That’s going to disappoint some people,” said Laidlaw. “But it’s important for us to be upfront about that.”
“It’s not a cameo,” added Gaider. “She plays a significant role.”
The developer is however remaining tight-lipped in regards to whether Inquisition will touch base on the plotline involving the baby Morrigan conceived in Origins. However, you can expect your Grey Warden’s relationship with Morrigain in the first game to play a role ‘of varying degrees’ depending on how close you were to her.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is scheduled to ship for current and next-generation platforms in fall 2014.
