Dragon Quest Dragon Quest 40th Anniversary Stream Dragon Quest XII The Flames of Fate News PS5 square enix Yuji Horii

Dragon Quest Live Stream Set For May 27, Confirms Yuji Horii

Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii has revealed that a 40th anniversary live stream is planned for May 27, 2026, potentially giving us our first proper look at Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate, which has been keeping a low profile for years now.

Speaking on the latest episode of the KosoKoso broadcast, “We’ll, be doing a live stream on May 27. I think we’ll be able to make an announcement about the next game. We’ll also have various other things besides the next game, so please look forward to it.” Note that Square Enix hasn’t announced a Dragon Quest 40th anniversary yet, but we’ll probably hear something soon given that Horii-san has let the cat out of the bag.

Fans will remember that Square Enix hosted a 35th anniversary event for Dragon Quest back in 2021, at which point a number of projects were announced including the aforementioned Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate, as well as Dragon Quest X Offline and Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.

Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate hasn’t received any concrete new details since the 35th anniversary stream, so it’s long overdue at this point. It’s worth noting that it’s also the only game that was announced during the 35th event that hasn’t been released yet.

Horii last commented on Dragon Quest XII back in May last year, when he told GameReactor that he was “putting lots of work into it [Dragon Questr XII],” but wasn’t able to deliver any further details.
