Speaking during an interview with IGN, Dragon’s Dogma II Game Director Hideaki Itsuno and Lead Game Designer Kento Kinoshita spoke at length about a the Sphinx boss, an enemy that’s very well hidden to the point that the pair reckon most players will miss it when beating the game.
The Sphinx is the guardian of a series of chests, and presents players with various riddles, which if answered correctly, will grant them access to the treasures within. However, these riddles will have to be sold “through action,” and failing to answer correctly will mean your rewards are locked out of your reach for good.

However, Dragon’s Dogma II does give you the option of actually fighting the beast if you want, with Itsuno-san revealing “it is possible to fight it.” Even so, finding the Sphinx is a task in itself, as Itsuno added:
The journey to finding it might actually be the biggest mystery of all. I imagine there will be a lot of players who beat the game without even encountering the Sphinx.
Dragon’s Dogma II is scheduled for release on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on March 22, 2024.
