The first gameplay footage of the PSVR 2 version of Dreams of Another from Q-Games has been showcased in a post on the PlayStation Blog by creator Dylan Cuthbert.
For those out of the loop, Dreams of Another takes the form of a third-person exploration title that is formed around the theme of No Creation Without Destruction. The game uses point cloud rendering to immerse players in a dreamlike world where your body feels as if it’s dissolving into the environment, with shooting is designed to materialise and create from an abstract, fragmented world.
Dreams of Another follows two main characters — The Man in Pajamas and The Wandering Soldiers — with humours dialogue bringing to life various objects such as swaying trees, lonely doors, glowing streetlights and more. Players will be able to change seamlessly between the first-person VR mode and the third-person viewpoint used in the PS5 release when playing on PSVR 2, with both perspectives offering different advantages.
For example, the third-person view puts more emphasis on the concept and story for Dreams of Another, while the first-person angle highness player immersion as you are placed directly in cloud-saturated world where you can greater inspect things.
Third-person mode takes advantage of eye-tracking, allowing players to shoot simply by looking in a direction. This keeps the intuitive feel of the standard PS5 version while making gameplay even faster and more fluid. Both the regular and VR versions use haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for a uniquely Dreams of Another experience to further deepen the immersion.
Dreams of Another is due out on PS5 and PSVR 2 later this year.
