The developer behind DuckTales Remastered has confirmed that the cartoon platform title will feature an expanded plot.
Originally released on the NES in 1989, DuckTales was pretty barebones in terms of a story, as you can probably imagine. One such example includes the Moon stage, where Scrooge McDuck has to save his nephews and battles a giant rat — though why the trio were captured and the rat’s presence were left unexplained.
This all looks set to change for the high-definition revamp, however.
“In the original NES version, you go in the UFO to find the remote control to open the area to get to the boss. You don’t really know why. The game doesn’t explain it well,” said Capcom’s Rey Jimenez, during a chinwag with Siliconera.
“In the NES version, you fight a big rat and it didn’t explain why you’re fighting a rat on the moon. That’s explained in here because there are rats they’re experimenting on and you let them loose and that becomes the rat down there. Also, how does Scrooge McDuck breathes on the moon? We explain that as well.”
DuckTales Remastered is due out on PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade, and Wii U this summer.
