Take-Two said during its earnings call last night that Duke Nukem Forever will be profitable for the U.S. publishing giant.
The foul-mouth shooter released back in June and received a bit of a pasting from critics to say the least, though according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, this hasn’t translated into poor sales.
"We’re grateful to compete in a market where you can have a critical response that was disappointing, but can still make money," commented Zelnick.
Exact sales figures were not divulged, however.
Elsewhere, the firm revealed that crime caper L.A. Noire has shipped four million copies to date, while Red Dead Redemption has shipped 11 million units since its launch in May 2010. The latter’s Undead Nightmare expansion shipped two million to boot.
However, Take-Two posted a loss of $8.6 million for the first quarter of FY2012, with sales dropping from $375.4 miillion to $334.4 million.
Things are looking promising for the company though, with Zelnick adding: "Looking ahead to fiscal year 2013, we have already announced three exciting new releases: BioShock Infinite, Spec Ops: The Line, and Borderlands 2, and we have a very strong pipeline of yet-to-be announced titles in development.”
