No details were revealed as to why the console versions won’t be available until next year, but Funcom did confirm in a press release that Dune Awakening “will be coming” to PlayStation and Xbox consoles “sometime in 2026.”

Dune Awakening takes place in an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides was never born, with Arrakis stuck in a civil war between House Atreides and House Harkonnen. Players control an undercover agent working for Bene Gesserit who must locate the missing Fremen and “awake the Sleeper.”
Players are able to create and customise their own playable avatar, as well as deleting a mentor who then determines your character’s starting ability. As a survival game, Dune Awakening requires players to manage their thirst level and maintain stillsuits, while exploring during the day time may result in heat stroke. Resource management is a major component in Dune Awakening, as you must scavenge for crucial materials in order to craft new items and build a shelter.
Dune Awakening is slated for release on consoles at some point in 2026.
