The targeted frame rate for the PlayStation 4 version of Dying Light has been lowered by developer Techland from 60fps to 30fps.
News comes via comments from Lead Game Designer, Maciej Binkowski, during a session with Ask.fm (via NeoGAF), where he confirmed the PS4 release is now aiming for 1080p/30fps.
The Dead Island creator previously targeted the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the zombie title at 60fps. It remains unknown if the Xbox One version will be affected by this decision.
Techland previously expressed confidence that it would be able to meet its target of 60fps for the hotly anticipated title, and it isn’t clear as to why the studio decided to slash its frame rate expectations.
The game takes place during the midst of a zombie apocalypse, with players controlling survivor Kyle Crane, an undercover agent who finds himself battling the undead in the middle of a quarantine zone in the city of Harran.
Dying Light is scheduled to ship for PS4, PC, and Xbox One in January 2015.
