Guerrilla Games Horizon Horizon 3 Horizon 3 Still Years Off News PS5

Horizon 3 Is Reportedly Still Years Away And Has A ‘Tiny Team’ Working On It At Guerrilla Games

Guerrilla Games has only a “tiny team” working on the as-yet unannounced Horizon 3 and as such it’s still years away from release, according to a report on Bloomberg.

A tiny team has been plotting out the next single-player Horizon game but it remains years away from completion, according to the people familiar with the studio’s plans,” commented Jason Schreier. This probably isn’t surprising considering Guerrilla Games is currently working on Horizon Hunters Gathering, which as previously reported, is in the process of being rebooted following less-than-favourable feedback form its testing process.

Schreier had previously touched base on Horizon 3 back in February this year, when he said that the project was still years away as “most of the studio is” working on Horizon Hunters Gathering. Prior to this, leaker TCMF reported that a third Horizon game could launch in 2027, although that seems very unlikely given Schreier’s latest comments.

At this point we can assume that Horizon 3 is going to be a PS6 game, as we can’t see it arriving any sooner than 2028, at which point it’s expected Sony will release its new hardware (although a cross-generation release can’t be ruled out).

The Horizon franchise has been Guerrilla Games’ main focus since its launch nearly ten years ago, with Horizon Zero Dawn kick starting the franchise on PS4 in 2027. The game was followed by 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West for PS4 and PS5, with the original game remastered for Sony’s latest home console a few years later.
