Techland has debuted grisly new footage of Dying Light: The Beast at Summer Game Fest this evening, which offers a greater look at how the standalone horror-adventurer will play.

Dying Light: The Beast is coming to PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, and started out life as an expansion for Dying Light 2: Stay Human. It’s now evolved into a standalone title, and features Dying Light protagonist Kyle Crane, who escapes captivity and embarks on a crusade of revenge against Baron, who subjected Kyle to experiments for over 13 years.
Set from a first-person viewpoint, Dying Light: The Beast takes place in the zombie-infested tourist destination of Castor Woods, and like the original game, the undead are prone to aggression during the night and slower during the day time. As r result of the experiments conducted on Kyle, players have access to a number of superhuman abilities, including the ability to sprint at speeds that far exceed any normal human being. The game’s ‘Beast Mode’ allows Kyle to unleash powerful melee attacks and lob environmental objects at foes.
Dying Light: The Beast will release for PS5 on August 22, 2025.
