Dying Light to receive 10 free DLC updates

dying light free dlc update

In a bout of surprising, yet certainly welcomed, news Polish developer Techland has confirmed that its 2015 open-world zombie hit, Dying Light, will receive an additional 10 free DLC updates over the next 12 months.

The new DLC will feature new gameplay mechanics, locations, story-driven quests, enemies, weapons, and more – with all future updates now to be informed by a new community-driven initiative that lets fans have their say on the direction of content development going forward.

"Almost three years after the original Dying Light was released, about half a million people still play the game every week. In the very first months on the market in 2015, the weekly numbers were around 700,000. This shows that our community is still huge, active, and craving for more," Techland CEO Paweł Marchewka said.

He continued: "As we firmly believe in active collaboration between the design team and players, we hope this announcement will encourage our fans to share their thoughts, stories, and ideas about how we can improve their experience even more.’’

The first Dying Light DLC update will arrive in the ‘coming weeks’ but is not part of the planned 10 free DLCs but rather something extra for fans of the game.

All told, this looks like an excellent gesture by the developers who’ve certainly stuck by Dying Light follow its surprising success back in January 2015. Not only did they pepper it with free updates upon its release but also launched a comprehensive expansion pack named ‘Dying Light: The Following’ some 13 months later.

As ever stay tuned to PSU for details on the first DLC pack when it hits.
