E3 2011: Ubisoft announces Far Cry 3

Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 3 is currently in the works at the firm’s Montreal studio and will release in 2012 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 platforms.

The sequel follows months of rumors pointing to a third game in the open-world series dating back to August last year.

Far Cry 3 has players hopping into the shoes of a chap named Jason Brody,  who finds himself in a bit of a pickle having been stranded on a tropical island. Gamers will be able to choose how the story unfolds as you opt whether to side with your allies or enemies.

The game’s producer, Dan Hay, commented, “Far Cry 3 brings something new and unexpected, while still building upon the foundations of excellence that are inherent to the Far Cry brand.”

“Whether you’re already a fan of the Far Cry series or jumping into the franchise for the very first time, you’re going to be blown away by the gritty story and epic adventure we’re going to deliver.”
