E3 2012 Awards: Best Shooter

Yeah, like this could have been harder to choose from. E3 2012 was the land of shooters.

Let us break it down: Crysis 3, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and Warface looked like really, really competent shooters. All of the above (okay, maybe not Warface) might be Game of the Year contenders. We even thought Dead Space 3 would win this category since it brings that great-looking new 2-player co-op mode. But what’s even better than 2-player co-op?

4-player co-op.

Far Cry 3 surprised us during Sony’s E3 press conference. We expected the team at Ubisoft Montreal to show us just how good the game has been coming along, but we definitely did not expect 4-player co-op.

Far Cry 3 has an exciting single-player campaign, a staggering competitive multiplayer component, and objective-based 4-player co-op. When taken into perspective, that makes us most excited for the next shooter coming from Montreal.

Runner up: Dust 514
