EA Acquires Realistic Tracking Tech For EA Sports FC Franchise, Teases ‘Ground-Breaking New Features’

TRACAB Technologies, which specialises in advanced sports optical tracking an analysis solutions, looks set to be snapped up by publisher Electronic Arts for use in its EA Sports FC franchise.

The publishing giant has announced it has reached an agreement to acquire the company, which is able to capture “nearly everything happening on the field or pitch at 60Hz per second, generating 600 million data points per game, including 65 unique data points per player and referee by capturing live skeleton data from 21 joints on each individual body on the pitch, as well as the center of mass and ball tracking, and so much more.”

Right now it’s unknown if TRACAB’s tech will be implemented in this year’s entry in the EA Sports FC series, which is presumably due out this September. Tracking technology has long been utilised in EA’s football games in order to achieve real-world movement, but TRACAB is far more advanced in this respect.
