Electronic Arts has revealed it has no plans to remaster titles in the Battlefield franchise.
Speaking during an interview with IBT, Patrick Soderlund, Vice President of EA Studios, said that the publishing giant is fully focused on the upcoming Battlefield 1 for the immediate future, though didn’t rule out the possibility of remastering games down the line.
“I wouldn’t say never. We’re not doing it right now, we’re focused on Battlefield 1 – but if we think the fans want that I see no reason we couldn’t,” he said.
This isn’t the first time that EA has touched on the subject of remastering some of its back catalogue. Last year, the studio said that it wasn’t interesting in re-releasing older titles in regards to the possibility of a high-definition bundle of the Mass Effect Trilogy.
Battlefield 1 was unveiled earlier this month for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One, where it was confirmed that the game will be set in World War I. The first-person shooter will incorporate more than just traditional infantry combat, featuring cavalry charges, bi-planes, battle ships and tank combat.
Earlier this week, Sorderlund admitted that EA initially rejected the setting of the Great War for the latest Battlefield title.
