EA Reveals What’s Next For The Sims With Project Rene

EA celebrated 22 years of The Sims today while also revealing what EA and Maxis are calling “the next generation of The Sims.”

It currently goes by the codename Project Rene, and according to EA in a press release, this new generation will do more than bring new things to the franchise.

“It will reimagine The Sims with even more ways to play, tools, to encourage creativity, and the ability to tell meaningful stories.” said EA.

“With Project Rene, players will have the choice to play solo or collaborate with others, and will have the ability to play their game across supported devices.”

Project Rene is still very much in early development, though what we’ve seen paints a picture of something potentially similar to The Sims, though far more intricate and detailed, potentially with a different focus.

“We are building on the same foundation that has made The Sims compelling for generations of players and pushing the boundaries to create new experiences.” said Lyndsay Person, vice president of franchise creative for The Sims.
