EA Staffing Up For Open World Game With ‘Interactive Storytelling’

Electronic Arts has posted up a job listing for a Senior Game Designer – Encounters on its website, which seemingly relates to the publishing giant’s new Seattle studio. The job describes a new open world game that will feature ‘interactive storytelling’ among other things.

The job also requires experience with ‘modern AAA open world games’ and ‘sandbox systems and mechanics.’

Here’s the blurb:

The Senior Designer, Encounters will spearhead a team in bringing a rich and dynamic game world to life. You’ll contribute to the design and structure of the world and own in detail how the world is populated with memorable characters and enemies.

You’ll also guide standards, process, and workflows to unlock the creative power of your team and work with the wider team to accomplish the gameplay vision through playable content and regular playtesting.

You may recall that EA announced in 2021 that it had ex-Monolith Productions boss Kevin Stephens to spearhead a new Seattle studio. According to the report on GI.biz, the company will be “will be working to create an open-world action-adventure game.”
