Electronic Arts is busy at work on a G.I. JOE videogame to coincide with the release of Paramount Picture’s G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra this summer.
Featuring an exclusive storyline that will begin where the movie left off, the game will host 12 characters from the world of G.I. JOE, with each sporting their own unique weapons and abilities. The action adventure will be a tale of good vs. evil as G.I. JOE and his companions seek to destroy the COBRA organization.
Few details have been released about the gameplay, but we do know that it will be mission-based and they’ll be a number of G.I. JOE vehicles to commandeer along the way. They’ll also be an offline co-op mode so players can tackle COBRA together, choosing from one of the twelve characters available. However, it is unknown whether the game will feature online play.
G.I. JOE has been an American icon for over four decades, so there’s no doubt it will fly off the shelves, even if the gameplay does disappoint.
We’ll bring you more news on the project as soon as we get it.
