Following news that EA has cancelled Cliffhanger Games‘ single-player Black Panther adventure game, details have emerged on the game’s story, revealing the titular Marvel superhero would have been taking on the Skrull.
Black Panther would have seen multiple playable characters including Azari, who is the son of T’Challa. Father and son would have faced off in ritual combat at the beginning of the story, only for the Skrull to interrupt the battle as they invaded Wakanda and subsequently kidnap T’Challa. This comes via X user NotfunEma, who provided the story info alongside some concept art.
As previously reported by leaker TheGhostofHope, Black Panther was going to see a number of characters playable in the game, including M’Baku, Shuri, and Killmonger alongside T’Challa himself. Black Panther would have utilised an over-the-shoulder viewpoint and each character would have possessed unique weapons and armour, with dynamic storytelling also having been a major focus for the game.

Sadly we’ll never get to see Cliffhanger Games’ hard work realised now that Black Panther has been cancelled. However, the character is still set to grace a new video game project in 2026, with Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra set to feature Black Panther and Captain America in action.
