Ed Boon confirms fatalities for MK vs. DC Universe

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has confirmed the presence of fatalities in Midway’s forthcoming next-gen brawler, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

Speaking during an interview with Gamespot, Boon confirmed that combatants from both franchises would sport fatalities, though noted some of the DC characters would not actually kill their opponents, instead leaving them alive in the form of brutalities.

“All of the MK characters and all of the DC villains will have fatalities. The DC heroes who don’t kill that often will have brutalities that will function just like fatalities but don’t actually kill the opponent,” said Boon.

MK vs. DC Universe is currently in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and is due for release later this year. A playable demo is expected to show up at E3 next month.

Characters confirmed so far include Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Sonya Blade, Superman, Batman and Flash, with playable locations including Lin Kuei Temple and Gotham City.
