The creators behind Edge of Memories have assured fans that the game is still on track to launch in 2026 despite the closure of developer Midgar Studio.
Speaking on the game’s official X account, the developers shared a bit more light into the closure of Midgar Studio. We’ve included the details below.
Edge of Memories will release later in 2026.
To be clear: Midgar closed because of financial troubles in the group, now under court-ordered restructuring. It had nothing to do with the game, the team’s work, or maximising profit. It’s exactly why we’re committed to handling the release right. They deserve as much. The creative work is done. What’s left is technical: bringing the console and PC versions up to standard. A dedicated team is now handling that, with the same care and respect for what Midgar created. Fixes and polishing are in full swing, including some based on the Next Fest demo, and will continue after launch to ensure the highest quality gameplay experience.
The Midgar team spent years on this game, and we won’t let their hard work go to waste. It’s the result of talent and passion, made by a small team; for several of them, it is their first game ever. They deserve to see it reach players. Each of Memories carries the work of many people whose dedication should be rewarded with success. We intend to make that happen.
Edge of Memories opens as the Astryan continent has been ravaged by a devastating plague known as The Corrosion, with the continent Avaris and its nomadic population on the other side of the globe standing on the brink of extinction as a result. With once-thriving fauna, flora and humans of the world now transformed into grotesque creatures, a Soul Whisperer named Eline takes up the fight against this new threat and seeks to end the apocalypse, using a dark power that awakens in her allowing her other manipulate The Corrosion within her own body.
