The LinkedIn profile for an employee with Eidos Montreal has revealed that the studio is developing an unannounced ‘AAAA’ game using Unreal Engine 5.
News comes via X user Timur222, who regularly turns up interesting details from LinkedIn profiles, and was corroborated by Tom Henderson over on Insider-Gaming. The news comes following a number of layoffs that hit Eidos Montreal back in December last year, after various staff members — including Samuel Daher, a gameplay director — took to social media to confirm they had been let go.
Henderson followed up on this by stating that the layoffs were related to a project known as P11, which had been cutting the number of staff involved in the project as it heads into Beta. This title is reportedly a new IP and has been in the works since 2019, sources told Insider Gaming, and has accumulated hundreds of million dollars worth of investment during its production. As such, it is believed this is the mystery ‘AAAA’ game. Henderson says that he believes P11 will be shown later this year “if things go well.”
In related news, it was also reported last month that a Legacy of Kain reboot was in development at Eidos Montreal before the company was snapped up by Embracer Group, but the project was sadly cancelled a few years ago. The game was set to be a soft reboot and was only in production for about a year before being scrapped.
