Eight Days trademark has officially been lost

Sony has officially lost the trademark to Eight Days, the PS3-exclusive title formally in development at SCE London Studio.

The reason for this, according to the filing, is due to the fact "the registrant did not file an acceptable declaration under Section.”

This should hardly come as a surprise though, considering Eight Days has been effectively dead for six years now. Back in June 2008, Sony announced that the game had been canceled alongside The Getaway; however, the following year it that the projet had been simply put ‘on hold.’

Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) boss, Shuhei Yoshida, later added that part of the reason for the game’s cancelation was due to the lack of an online component

Eight Days was originally announced at Sony’s E3 2006 press conference, and was to take place over the course of eight days—hence the game’s title. Eight Days featured two playable characters, one ‘good’ and the other ‘bad,’ each with a unique storyline.
