Since its release two years ago in 2022, it has sold more than 25 million units total worldwide. ELDEN RING™ Shadow of the Erdtree combines the same development capabilities of FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment’s international marketing power, and has sold over 5 million units worldwide within 3 days of its release on 21 June 2024.
Shadow of the Erdtree has attracted criticism from some critics and players for being too difficult, although Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of Elden Ring, has insisted that lowering the difficulty would effectively break the game. Elsewhere, he also revealed that there has been some interest in a possible Elden Ring adaptation, something which Miyazaki-san is not against.
