Its been very quiet concerning details of its arrival on PlayStation 4, but now Bethesda and Zenimax have given a firm release date of June 9th this year for what it now calls The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. Furthermore, it will drop the monthly subscription fee currently found in the PC version.
The console version will include all the additions and improvements made to the game over the past year or so and any that appear in the next few months. The game’s subscription fee has been scrapped in favour of keeping an active PS Plus subscription to play. This means that rather than being a gated Free-To-Play MMO, ESO will have all the features and free updates of the regular game for the price of the copy alone. Be warned, however, that there will still be DLC and microtransactions that are not included in the basic package and there is a subsequent optional membership package you can sign up for to get the DLC and exclusive items.
Zenimax also assured players that the game and its control system has been tailored to fit the Elder Scrolls experience found in previous hit titles in the series, Oblivion and Skyrim. A Justice system will also be implemented to reflect the punishment methods for murder and stealing found in those games as well.
There was also mention of a beta test ahead of ESO’s console launch, but details on exactly when have not yet been disclosed.
