Embracer Confirms Proposed Sale Of 4A Games & Zen Studios Has Been Cancelled

The proposed sale of 4A Games and Zen Studios have been shelved, Embracer Group has announced, with both companies remaining with the mega-publisher.

Embracer announced earlier this year that it was selling Saber Interactive for $247 million, and initially the Metro and Zen Pillball developers were included as options in the deal, which saw a group of private investors at Beacon Interactive take control of Saber.

Lars Wingefors, CEO Of Embracer Group, has now revealed that 4A Games and Zen Studios are now remaining at Embracer and will not be sold off.

We are satisfied with the conclusion of this transaction and very glad to see the great teams and assets of 4A Games and Zen Studios remain within Embracer. They will be important building blocks in our continued journey. 4A Games has currently two AAA titles under development that we eagerly await to announce.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank [Saber founder] Matthew Karch for his contributions over the years, and at the same time congratulate the Saber team on the successful release of the iconic Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, that will make a great start in their new structure.

Embracer Group embarked on a major restructuring process last year, which resulted in the loss of nearly 1,400 job losses and multiple studio closures, including Free Radical Design and Volition. Back in March, Wingefors confirmed that the restructuring was now complete, and it was ‘too early’ to discuss potential future acquisitions.
