Lars Wingefors, the CEO of Embracer Group, has told the latest issue of EDGE magazine that the industry behemoth is thinking “decades ahead” with the Lord of the Rings IP, following its acquisition of the property earlier this year.
We wouldn’t acquire the brand of Lord Of The Rings if we were just thinking to maximise that potential over the coming year. You need to think decades ahead. And that’s how we will continue to think about this.
Given that Embracer has only just acquired The Lord of the Rings IP, there are currently no projects announced as in active development yet. However, given that the company is thinking years ahead, there’s certainly no rush at this point.
