Embracer Group Reportedly Lays Off Around 50 Staff At Fishlabs

Embracer Group’s ongoing restructuring program has reportedly resulted in around 50 at Fishlabs losing their jobs, according to a report on VGC.

The site’s sources claim that Lars Wingefors, CEO of Embracer Group, told staff that around 50 people at the German developer would be let go, stating that a “lack of approval and financing” for a project currently in development resulted in “no the choice” but to cut jobs.

Aside from that, a number of employees have taken to LinkedIn to confirm the have lost their jobs. A designer at the studio wrote:

Due to my third project cancellation this year, and yet another Embracer mass layoffs at Fishlabs, I am looking for a new position.

Meanwhile, an artist at Fishlabs also confirmed they had been made redundant:

I was hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. A lot of people and friends are/were affected over the last months despite our efforts to produce an amazing experience for the players.

Embracer Group recently revealed that around 15 projects were cancelled due to it having let go of 900 people, and it has been reported that Free Radical, the creators of the TimeSplitters franchise, could also be shuttered as a result of the restructuring efforts.
