Gang of Dragon Nagoshi Studio News PS5 Toshihiro Nagoshi

Evidence Mounts That Gang Of Dragon Has Been Quietly Cancelled At Nagoshi Studio

Fresh evidence is mounting that Gang of Dragon, the debut project from Nagoshi Studio, has been shelved following its latest showcase at The Game Awards last year.

To bring you up to speed, back in March it was reported by Bloomberg that NetEase was pulling its funding for Gang of Dragon, a decision that was allegedly made after the company found that the title required an additional seven billion yen to reach completion. At the time, Nagoshi-san was looking for a way to secure that funding elsewhere, but didn’t have any luck.

Following this, Nagoshi Studio’s YouTube account had been deleted alongside all related videos, and the studio was listed as ‘permanently closed’ on Google’s business listing. However, there’s been a couple of new developments that continue to paint a bleak picture of the studio.

Nagoshi himself is slated to appear in the new issue of Famitsu without any affiliation to his studio or its debut project. He appears alongside a number of other Japanese creators, but is the only one without a company or history listed. In addition, Nagoshi Studio’s Daisuke Sato now lists himself as “ex-Nagoshi Studio’ on social media.

Nothing official has been announced regarding the status of Gang of Dragon or its developer, but from the look of things it sadly appears that the company may be no more, or at the very least the game has been scrapped. We’ll let you know if anything changes.

Gang of Dragon was announced during The Game Awards in December 2025, and takes place in Kabukicho, the nightlife district of Shinjuku, Tokyo. Players follow Shin Ji-seong, portrayed by Ma Dong-seok, who is a high-ranking member of a Korean crime syndicate operating in Kabukicho. He soon becomes embroiled in an underworld conflict where he forges intense, human connections that force him to confront his own sense of purpose.
