Ex-Rockstar Legend Michael Unsworth Has Joined Dan Houser’s Absurd Ventures

Absurd Ventures, the studio fronted by Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser, has appointed Michael Unsworth as its head of story and creative management.

Unsworth was previously a series writer on Rockstar’s hugely successful Red Dead Redemption franchise, and also worked on LA Noire, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Grand Theft Auto V. He joined Absurd Ventures last month, having left Rockstar after 16 years back in August.

Houser announced the formation of Absurd Ventures back in June 2023, where he confirmed the studio will be focused on creating “stories for a diverse variety of genres, without regard to medium, to be produced for live-action and animation; video games and other interactive content; books, graphic novels, and scripted podcasts.”

Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that Rockstar veteran Lazlow Jones is also working with Houser at Absurd Ventures, having joined the team as one of its founding members. Jones is best known for his work on the Grand Theft Auto series, having voiced a fictional version of himself on various radio stations, including V-Rock in GTA Vice City and Integrity 2.0 in GTA IV.
