Former Sony Bend developer and co-director of Days Gone, John Garvin, has hit out at the recent PlayStation 30th Anniversary trailer for failing to include anything from the studio.
Garving has a long history of criticising Sony following his departure from Bend Studio, having previously claiming Days Gone’s review scores on ‘woke’ critics and launch bugs. Furthermore, as recently as September, he criticised Deacon St. John’s inclusion in an Astro Bot ad, stating the character was ‘reduced to a cartoon school.’
Now, he’s taken aim at the PlayStation 30th Anniversary, writing on X: “‘Its about…ignoring Sony Bend…’ it’s as if Syphon Filter and Days Gone never happened…”

Days Gone was released in April 2019 for the PS4 and revolves around a post-apocalyptic US that has been overrun with creatures known as Freakers, with players controlling Deacon, a motorbike lover, as he attempts to survive against harsh conditions brought on by the outbreak. While Garvin and co-director Jeff Ross have since departed Sony Bend, the studio has been busy working on a new IP for the past five years.
