Codemasters has announced F1 2021 for PS5 and PS4, with the game getting a release date of July 16, 2021.
The title will be Codemasters’ first game since being acquired by EA and mark the first time the franchise appears on next-gen consoles. F1 2021 introduces a brand new story mode called Braking Point, which takes players on an epic journey as they rise from the ranks of Formula 2 to a shot at stardom in Formula 1. This mode also features the return of Devon Butler, who appeared in F1 2019.
The game’s Career Mode now offers a two-player option for friends to join in online play co-operatively or competitively, playing in different teams. Career Mode this time also introduces Rea-Season Start, allowing players to begin at any point in the season with real-time driver and constructor standings.
On top of all of that, F1 2021 includes driver-manager experience My Team, two-player split-screen, shorter season options, esports integration, and accessible menus and handling. Those playing on the PS5 will get access to a visual uplift and faster loading times. A free upgrade will also be available if you buy the PS4 version of the game and want to upgrade to PS5 down the line.
If you preorder the game, you will get access to the Braking Point Content Pack, with exclusive in-game items and 5,000 PitCoins. Those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition will get access to seven iconic F1 drivers for use in My Team, 18,000 PitCoins, the Braking Point Content Pack, and three days early access to the game, allowing you to play on July 13.
