F1 2021 Update Temporarily Removes Ray Tracing On PS5

Codemasters has announced that the latest F1 2021 update has temporarily removed ray tracing on PS5. While F1 2021 update 1.04 was released for PC on Friday and was confirmed to arrive on consoles soon after, it’s only now that we’ve learned of ray tracing being removed.

Here’s the full blurb from Codemasters:

PlayStation®5 only: We are aware of some instability within the game for a limited number of users on PS5 relating to Ray Tracing. As such, we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily disable it to aid stability. We aim to re-enable this as quickly as possible, and we will provide an update in due course.

The PC and Xbox Series X versions of F1 2021 seem to be unaffected by this issue, so it’s just PS5 users that are without the feature for the time being.

F1 2021 was released for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on July 16, 2021. You can read our review here.
