Developer Playground Games has revealed that the main quest for Fable will last players around 20 hours, but naturally there’s plenty of side quests available to extend your play time if you want to venture off the main path.
Speaking with Polygon at GamesCom, Will Kennedy, Associate Game Director on Fable, commented, “We have around 15-20 hours of mainline quest gameplay, we have around 15-20 of side and open-world exploration content gameplay. And then, of course, the life systems are limitless, so you can play them for as long as you want.”
Last week, Playground Games’ general manager, Ralph Fulton, told IGN that the company is fine launching Fable alongside other major titles, but admitted there’s “just one that I’m happy to avoid entirely,” which is obviously Grand Theft Auto VI.]
Fable is scheduled to launch for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on February 23, 2027, and functions as a reimagining of the franchise rather than a continuation of the previous instalments in the former Xbox-exclusive juggernaut. Set in a new version of the fictional kingdom of Albion, Fable sees players creating their own Hero before embarking on a quest to try and reverse the effects of a mysterious stranger’s spell, which has turned the residents of your home village to stone.
