Fallout 4 PS4 frame-rate defended by Bethesda: ‘game runs well on PS4’

The vice president of PR and marketing for Bethesda has defended previous comments on Fallout 4’s frame-rate for PlayStation 4, insisting the post-apocalyptic RPG ‘runs well’ on Sony’s console despite reports to the contrary.

Writing on Twitter, Pete Hines said his experience with the game, which releases worldwide today on PS4, PC, and Xbox One, was positive when playing the game for Sony’s latest home console, and that claims of a poor frame-rate were ‘regurgitated from one person.’ We’ve embedded a series of Hines’ Tweets below for further reading on the matter.

Hines previously mentioned that his experience with playing Fallout 4 on PS4 resulted in a ‘steady 30fps,’ something which came under scrutiny following an analysis of the game on Digital Foundry. Extreme accounts of the frame-rate pointed to the Xbox One version of the game experiencing such issues that it actually dropped to 0fps, resulting in an outright game freeze. Fallout 4 takes place in Boston, U.S., some 200 years after a nuclear war devastated the country, and like Fallout 3, players will emerge from the confines of the Vault to a post-apocalyptic wasteland inhabited by feral creatures and other hazards. Fallout 4 utilizes the Creation Engine, which was previously responsible for powering The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on last-generation consoles, though it has been modified for new hardware.
