Details on Fallout 5 were shared by Todd Howard with the creators of the Fallout TV series in order to avoid any similarities between both projects, executive producer Jonathan Nolan and show runner Graham Wagner revealed during an interview with Den of Geek.
Nolan revealed that the Fallout TV series hasn’t been designed to replace or tell the events of Fallout 5, although it is set within the same universe as Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic video game franchise. His comments come following an earlier interview Nolan did with Total Film, where he said, “It’s almost like we’re Fallout 5,” leading to confusion among fans.

It means you have all of the benefit of beautiful storytelling that Todd and [Bethesda] has contributed to, but we also get to tell an original story within that world. As writers and filmmakers, it’s just a dream come true.
Wagner then added, I think we made Fallout 6,” with Nolan replying, “We know all about Fallout 5, we’re not telling anyone.”
“Well, there were some things where I said, ‘Don’t do this because we are going to do that in Fallout 5′,” offered Howard.
The Fallout TV series will launch on April 11 on Amazon Prime Video.
