Sony has announced that Farpoint PSVR has officially gone gold ahead of its planned launch next month.
Developed by Impulse Gear, Farpoint takes place on an unknown alien planet inhabited by hostile creatures, including giant arachnid-like foes and other nasties that love nothing more than to lob explosive goop at your face. You can tackle the action alone or with a partner, although the co-op mode injects a welcome layer of strategy into the mix if you can gear up a buddy with a PSVR headset.
Farpoint is one of the most significant PSVR releases to date, and will also make use of the new PlayStation VR Aim controller, which will launch day and date with the hotly anticipated sci-fi shooter. We’ve already sampled the device, and came away pretty impressed with its ease of use and reliability.

In addition to confirming that development on the game is now complete, Sony also released a shiny new Farpoint trailer for your viewing pleasure that focuses on the game’s story. Check it out below. Farpoint is scheduled for release on PSVR on May 19, 2017.
“When we started working on Farpoint we knew from the beginning that we wanted it to have a deep and meaningful narrative. We wanted to use VR to tell a unique, more personal story in a way that put the player right in the middle of it,” commented Impulse Gear’s Seth Luisi.
