14-year-old Lexi Peters from Buffalo, NY would often play her brother in EA’s NHL series, and even model a team after her all-girl hockey team the Purple Eagles. But, after a fair while of playing with only male characters, and with the support of her father, she decided to send a letter to the CEO of EA Sports, Peter Moore.
Moore accepted the ideas and troubles expressed in Miss Peters’ letter, and brought it to David Littman, the executive producer of the acclaimed hockey series.
As a result, Lexi Peters is now the first featured female in an NHL game, and her name and picture were even added to the roster, and her simulated face is the default option for custom female characters.
