FIFA 16 development has already kicked off, says EA

The COO of Electronic Arts has confirmed that development of FIFA 16 is already underway.

"There are two phases to [development]. There’s the core game itself. We have several hundred people working on that and it’s a staggered development process, so there are already people working on FIFA 16,” said Peter Moore, during a chat with CVG.

"I think some people have the misconception that you finish the game and the entire team goes off for two weeks before starting on the next game, which isn’t how it works."

Interestingly, Moore also hinted that early planning for FIFA 16’s successor has begun.

“You have parallel development that goes on where you have frontrunners that are thinking about what FIFA 16 is and in some instances FIFA 17 because there are development and engineering and tech decisions that need to be made."

FIFA 14 is the most recent entry in the venerable footie franchise, and has become a regular staple on the British software charts since its launch last fall.

This year’s instalment, FIFA 15, is due out in September for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
