FIFA 18 sales have dropped 25 percent in comparison to last year’s entry in the venerable football franchise.
Despite the drop in sales, FIFA 18 still managed to score first place on the U.K. All Format Chart, dethroning Destiny 2 in the process.
There’s a good reason for the weaker sales though. FIFA 18 hit stores on a Friday, whereas its predecessor arrived on a Tuesday, giving it three more days to pull in the punters.
In addition, the rise in digital sales can be attributed to the slump in disc-based units sold. Typically, games like Call of Duty and FIFA are big on physical sales, but it looks like things are slowly changing.
FIFA 18 sales hit big on PS4
In terms of platforms, the PlayStation 4 version of FIFA 18 represented 60 percent of all copies sold. This marks an increase over the 53 percent that FIFA 17 moved on Sony’s flagship console last year.
We reviewed FIFA 18 last week and found it to be a brilliant example of The Beautiful Game. Be sure to check out our FIFA 18 guides to get you started:
