It’s official: FIFA 23 is the UK’s Christmas number one, giving the series its 10th overall Christmas victory on the physical charts.
EA Sports’ footie outing saw a 67% increase in boxed sales week-on-week, no doubt spurred on by the letters takes of the World Cup during that period. Beyond FIFA, the only gaming franchises that managed to steal the Christmas Crown were Call of Duty, and in recent years Red Dead Redemption 2 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla managed a festive win.
For this year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 managed second place, followed by God of War Ragnarok. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is the only new entry to speak of, which debuts at number eight with most of the sales coming from the PS5 version.
