Fillion backs Mark Wahlberg Uncharted role

Actor Nathan Fillion has revealed that he’s looking forward to clapping eyes on Mark Wahlberg in the forthcoming movie adaptation of Uncharted.

Fillion last year urged fans to support his desire to step in to cheeky treasure hunter Nathan Drake’s shoes prior to Wahlberg’s casting. Obviously this didn’t come in to fruition, though that hasn’t stopped Fillion from subsequently cementing his support for the Hollywood star on Twitter.

"Just watched The Other Guys, and honestly excited to see Wahlberg in Drake’s Fortune," said Fillion. "He’s got mad skills."

While everything’s hunky-dory at camp Fillion, fans aren’t exactly the feeling Wahlberg wow-factor, with many Uncharted followers expressing their disdain at the casting decision.

Furthermore, it hasn’t helped matters that director David O’ Russell’s confirmed that the film incarnation of Drake will deviate heavily from Naughty Dog’s source material, with the brash hero belonging to a gaggle of globetrotting antique dealers.

A date has yet to be pinned on the project, though the script is said to be at around 50 percent complete. Apparently, Hollywood heavyweights Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are being lined up to portray Drake’s father and uncle, respectively.

We’ll have more on the Uncharted flick as it breaks.
