Final Fantasy IX Remake Rumours Heat Up As References To The Game Are Spotted On EpicDB

The long-rumoured Final Fantasy IX Remake has still yet to be officially announced, but the newly-launched EpicDB features a bunch of codenames that refer to various unannounced projects — among which includes references to Final Fantasy IX.

For starters, Final Fantasy IX Remake is listed here under the codename Memo, and there are also listings for the Tetra Master Starter Pack and Thief’s Knives bonus. If you’re unfamiliar with Final Fantasy IX, the Tetra Master is a card mini-game seen in the original version.

Final Fantasy IX Remake rumours have been doing the rounds for about two years now, and most recently it was claimed by leaker Midori on X that the project is ‘very far along’ in development. Reports of the game have also been backed up by Jeff Grubb, who claims that Final Fantasy IX Remake is definitely happening.

Final Fantasy IX was originally released for the PSOne back in 2000 and was developed in parallel with Final Fantasy VIII. The game is noted for dropping the more futuristic tone of its predecessors in favour of a more medieval aesthetic that recalls the earlier Final Fantasy games.
