Speaking during an interview with TheGamer, Square Enix‘s Naoki Yoshida — aka Yoshi-P — has said that it’s ‘probably about time’ that the Japanese giant made another Final Fantasy Tactics game, making it clear he’s just as big of a fan of that series as the fans.
We have a lot of our staff who worked on previous games like Final Fantasy Tactics or Final Fantasy 12, so you’re going to have a lot of that [Tactics] feel because a lot of the same people are on the team. We love Tactics as well. It’s probably about tie that we do a new one.

However, during the interview, localisation boss MIchael-Christopher Koji Fox and director Takeo Kujiraoka noted that Final Fantasy 16 isn’t a good template for a new Tactics game going forward. “What would we even call it,” Fox commented. “Final Fantasy 16 Tactics? That’s a lot.”
Back in February last year, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier claimed that a Final Fantasy Tactics remaster was ‘coming,’ although fast-forward to December, and Yasumi Matsuno, the director of the original FF Tactics, said that there were no plans for a remaster.
