In an interview with Inverse, director Kazutoyo Maehiro revealed that if Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles sells well enough, it may allow him and his team to develop a sequel, spin-off, or remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and A2.
“If The Ivalice Chronicles can do well, that’s good for the fans, they can enjoy it. But, at the same time, it shows the business viability of the strategy RPG genre,” The Ivalice Chronicles director Kazutoyo Maehiro tells Inverse, “So that could potentially open the door for doing something with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or A2, or maybe even sequels and new titles as well.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles has been a long time coming for fans. It’s been revealed that Square Enix had lost the original source code for Final Fantasy Tactics and had to redevelop the game from the ground up.
Though it features plenty of quality of life features, such as auto-save, a brand-new story translation, and full voice acting, fans were a little let down that the Invalice Chronicles won’t feature content added into the 2007 PSP release of Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lion.
These features included the Onion Knight and Dark Knight jobs, the playable characters Luso (Final Fantasy Tactics A2) and Balthier (Final Fantasy XII), and the multiplayer mode. It also omits brand-new side-quests and extra story missions introduced in War of the Lion.
